Taipei World Culture Showcase 2005
Well the band are back from Taiwan after taking the Festival by storm and giving everyone there a very loud and wild Scottish introduction to Saor Patrols music.
Taiwan, which the 16th century
Portuguese mariners christened "Ilha
Formosa" (beautiful island), is situated
between Korea and Japan to the north,
Hong Kong and the Philippines to the
south, and about 160 kilometers (100
miles) off the southeastern coast of
mainland China.
Taiwan's World culture show case has
been running annually now for 5 years
and has been a major hit with the
performers and audiences alike, the
festival is organised and funded by the
Taiwan goverenment as are many of the
festivals held in China and Taiwan.
Saor Patrol received an outstanding
and warm welcome from the locals,
festival organisers and government
officials from Taipei.
Charlie Allen (Piper)
"We had a terrific time out there
the audiences were out of this
world"
Performing infront of thousands
of Taipei and tourist festival goers
Saor Patrol were mobbed where
ever they played in Taipei,
pictured left Saor patrol performing
at an open air venue, streets and
split level walk ways filled to
bursting as everyone try's to catch
the performance.
This feature on the festival will be expanded with more stories and quotes from all of the band once all the boys have recovered from their jet lag, in the mean time enjoy some of the photos taken from this trip.
Pictured below Saor Patrol perform for 2000 school children from
various local Taipie schools giving the kids a chance to experience
the music of different cultures from all over the world.
Saor Patrol also presented Taipie's education department with a Saltire flag, as a small rememberance of their visit to the school.
